Taxi finder app, goCatch has been awarded the top prize at the BizSpark APAC Entrepreneur Summit in Sydney.
According to goCatch’s website, this is the second award the app has won. It took the top prize at Tech23 last year. It was also a finalist in the CeBIT outstanding project award earlier this year.
The app, founded in 2011 by Andrew Campbell and Ned Moorfield, bypasses the traditional phone booking taxi service and connects passengers directly with the nearest available taxi. It also encourages them to rate drivers.
The award coincides with an announcement from goCatch that they will be add a new points based system that rewards taxi drivers for “doing the right thing by passengers”.
Mr Moorfield said the system gives taxi drivers who have a high total of points priority access to “the best jobs”.
